Calgary Housing Stats - September 2019

Calgary is still in the midst of a buyer’s market.

September brought a total sales number of 1,371, up 8.21% from September 2018 and a Median sale price of $405,000, down 1.94% from the previous September. Total number of new listings reached 2,714 and total inventory was 6,889, down 13.47% from September 2018.

This is the third consecutive month in which sales activity has improved over last year. As supply decreases and prices continue to decline, demand should increase.

CREB® chief economist Ann-Marie Lurie has this to say: “While housing demand is modestly improving, sales activity remains relatively weak. The market is moving toward more stable conditions, but this is mostly related to supply adjustments in the city.”
